Here are some common questions about our tours.

Packing
& Luggage

Can we bring all our luggage with us?

This depends on your tour itinerary. If your itinerary includes transportation to your accommodation, then you can easily take all your luggage with you and we will store it in the car during daily activities, and transfer it to your accommodation afterwards.

If your itinerary includes a trek to your accommodation, there is often only a trekking trail leading there (especially if it’s a home stay in a local village) and in this case, you luggage cannot be transported. Therefore you should only bring a light backpack with essentials. We can store the rest of your luggage in our office in Chiang Mai.

What should we pack for the tour?

When packing for a tour, you should take into account several factors, such as weather, tour duration, activities in your tour package, and also accommodation type.

How should we dress for activities?

What you wear for activities depends, not only on which activity you have in your itinerary, but also on the season (rainy, hot, or cold season) during which you go on a tour with us.

Booking
Process

How can I book a tour?

The easiest way to book a tour is to fill out a booking form on our website. Click on the ‘Book now’ button on the page for the tour you would like to book and you will be redirected to a booking form for the tour. Fill out the form and submit it. We will be in touch as soon as we can.

If the booking form gives you any trouble, please send us a booking inquiry at spicywildpumpkin@gmail.com and include tour start date, tour name or link to the tour on our website, and a number of guests in your group.

Booking form is not working. How can I book?

The booking form might give you an error message or not submit correctly. This can happen if you use an old browser, an uncommon browser, an unsupported device, have scripts blocked by your browser, or if you fill the form our incorrectly.

If the booking form is not working for you, please send us an inquiry to spicywildpumpkin@gmail.com and we will make a booking for you. When you send us an email, please include your start date, name of the tour you would like to book or a link to the tour on our website, and a number of guests in your group.

What is the booking process like?

After you either submit your booking on our website or send us an email with a booking inquiry, we will respond as soon as we can. We strive to respond in under 24 hours to all booking inquiries. If you don’t receive a reply from us in 24 hours, please contact us again.

Our reply will contain your booking details and a booking form for you to fill out. Please fill out the booking form and return it to us. Make sure to fill out all points in the booking form. We need the information from the booking form to make arrangements for your tour and to prepare insurance for everyone in your group. You can return the booking form up to 12 hours before your tour is scheduled to start.

You will also receive a separate email from PayPal with an invoice for deposit payment. We require a deposit payment at the time of your booking in order to confirm your booking. As soon as your deposit is paid, your booking is confirmed and we start booking your activities, transportation, guide, and accommodation.

Please note that the email from PayPal might go into your spam folder so make sure to check it if you don’t see the email in your inbox.

Do I get a refund in case of cancellation?

We cannot refund a full amount in a case of tour cancellation. As soon as we receive your deposit payment, we start booking your activities, transportation, guides and accommodation and these bookings are not refundable.

    We do however offer a partial refund on cancelled bookings as follows:

  • If you cancel your booking at least a week (seven days) before your tour is scheduled to start and you have paid a 30% deposit for the booking, we will refund 50% of the deposit paid.
  • If you cancel your booking at least a week (seven days) before your tour is scheduled to start and you have already paid the full tour price, we will refund 85% of the full price of your tour.
  • If you cancel your booking less than a week (seven days) before your tour is scheduled to start and you have paid a 30% deposit for the booking, we will retain your deposit.
  • If you cancel your booking less than a week (seven days) before your tour is scheduled to start and you have already paid the full tour price, we will refund 70% of the full price of your tour.

How far in advance should I book a tour?

We accept bookings up to eight months in advance. If you would like to book a tour further in advance, we can make a temporary booking for you and send you an invoice for deposit payment to confirm the booking eight months before your tour is scheduled to start.

We have two busy seasons each year, one from the end of July and to the beginning of September, and the second one from the end of October to the beginning of April. If you would like to book a tour in one of the busy seasons, we recommend that you book at least two weeks in advance.

If you’re making a booking in the off-season, we can usually make last minute bookings for all our tours.

Can I make a last minute booking?

For bookings during high season, we cannot guarantee last minute availability. We can, however, accommodate most last minute bookings during the off-season – end of April to beginning of June and end of September to the end of October.

Last minute bookings have to be confirmed (deposit paid and booking form filled out) at least 12 hours before the scheduled start of the tour.

Pickup
& Drop-off

Where can you pick us up/drop us off?

Most of our tours start and finish in Chiang Mai city. Tour prices include pickup and drop-off in the city center. We can pick you up and drop you off at your accommodation, at a bus or train station, at the airport, or at a convenient meeting point.

Areas where we can pick you up and drop you off include city center inside the moat, Night Bazaar area, Chang Moi area, Chang Klan area, Suthep and Nimanhaemin area, Chang Phueak area, Hai Ya area, Wualay area, Si Phum, and Pa Daet area.

If you require pickup or drop-off outside of Chiang Mai city, we can organize it for you, but additional charges will apply.

If you’re staying in the area shown on the map below, we can pick you up and drop you off at no extra charge. If you’re staying outside of this area, let us know and we’ll inform you of any additional transportation charges.

What time will you pick me up?

Pickup times on our website are approximate. Your exact pickup time will depend on the tour you booked, season, traffic conditions, your arrival time, and your wishes.

When you make a booking with us, we will send you an email with your booking details, which include: booking holder, booking id, booked tour, etc. If you look under ‘Pick up’, you will see your scheduled pickup date and time. We will also send you a confirmation of your pickup time and location when you return your booking form with your pick up details.

What time will you drop us off?

Since out tours are private, the itineraries are quite flexible and exact timing of the tour depends on your wishes and pace, therefore, we don’t have a set drop off time. Generally, drop off is later for day trips and a bit earlier for multiple day tours. Our guests usually return from day trips between 5 and 7 PM and from multiple day tours between 3 and 5 PM. Of course, your drop off time might not fit into these timeframes.

If you have transportation or an appointment scheduled for the day your tour ends, let us know and we will adjust your itinerary so that you will be at your drop off location in time.

Other

Can I join a group / do you organise group tours?

We organize private tours and most of our guests prefer a private tour. However, we also receive an occasional request for a join in tour and if you are interested in a group tour, you can let us know when you book. We will make a note with your booking and should we receive another inquiry for a group tour, we can join your bookings. Do keep in mind that your tour might remain private if we do not receive another group tour inquiry.

Do you organise tours in the rainy season?

Rainy season is a great time for outdoor tours if you don’t mind getting a bit wet. In this season, wether is warm, rice paddies are green, and jungles lush, providing a wonderfully scenic environment for trekking, cycling, and other activities.

Remember to bring a raincoat and non-slippery, waterproof shoes.

Do you cater to dietary requirements?

We can prepare vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free meals, and more. Let us know what your dietary requirements are and we will make sure to prepare appropriate meals for you.
