Kindergarten Renovation Project Overview
A local kindergarten was built for Karen children by the government in Mae Win, but the government had a very limited budged for this building. Therefore the school was extremely basic and unmaintained for years. It was not a nice and fun environment where local kids would be happy to come learn and play and due to the lack of maintenance it was also not a safe environment for them.
We decided to do something for the kids and make their first years of schooling more enjoyable. We collected funds under our Share the Dream Project to make this possible.
After we had enough funding to start renovating this kindergarten, we invited volunteers to help us. We painted the building and our artistic volunteers drew some fun pictures for kids. We fixed the building, put up safety fences and planted a small garden. We provided new equipment, books, stationary, toys and games. We also constructed a safe playground in front of the building for the kids.
It was a lot of hard work, but we knew that the results would be amazing and bring a lot of happiness to local kids and give them a better education and better chance in life.
